Five Little Peppers and How They Grew by Margaret Sidney (Living Book Press)

Times are tough for the Pepper family since their father died. Life for a widow with five children is never easy, especially when there isn't enough money to send them to school, let alone have a Christmas. But no matter what comes their way the little brown house where the Pepper family live is always filled with love, hope and laughter.

Will their luck finally turn after a near tragedy? Can good fortune finally be on the way?
